Last week, the Roundtable's Chuck Bean was The Examiner's 'Four-Minute Interviewee.' He suggested that holiday giving can be seen not simply as charity but as a social return on investment. Chuck also moderated a lively discussion with Virginia Delegate Brian Moran with about 25 nonprofit leaders from Northern Virginia. "As part of the celebration, grantees attending the event were each surprised with a $1,000 contribution to further their work in the community."

Piedmont Environmental Council continues to receive a lot of press coverage on Dominion Virginia Power's proposed plans for a high voltage power line route through civil war battle ground and other natural lands including the Washington Post and The Examiner as well as WTOP. PEC has been drawing up to 700 people at meetings to oppose the power lines. An engaging meeting with graphic language, between representatives of Dominion and others was reported in the Fauquier Times-Democrat with photographs and video on You Tube.
